In a 1993 profile, Hunter described herself as the practical partner who kept their household organized. She also defended Stewart as an attentive father and welcomed his older children without trying to replace their mothers.

The couple separated in January 1999 after eight years together, although their divorce was not finalized until November 2009. Hunter later hosted "Rachel Hunter's Tour of Beauty," judged "New Zealand's Got Talent," and entered the South African jungle for the 2026 Australian season of "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!"

Her engagement to hockey player Jarret Stoll ended seven weeks before their planned 2009 wedding. As of 2026, Hunter had not publicly confirmed another relationship.
