On her wedding night, Sofia saw Victor take off a body that was not hers... and the truth about her debts turned marriage into a trap

PART 5 — THE LAST SECRET OF VICTOR

Sofia felt the pain becoming cooler.

How did he really die?

Victor looked at her.

The official version said a car accident.

I know that.

I don’t think it was an accident.

Sofia had to lean on the bed.

Why?

Because his documents disappeared that same night.

“And you were there?”

"No.

“Where were you?”

Following Adrian Valdés.

Sofia stood still.

Did you see it?

I saw his car near the crash site.

And you never said anything?

Without evidence it would have been an empty accusation.

And in four years you couldn't find evidence?

I found pieces.

But not the truth.

"No.

Sofia closed her eyes.

The whole marriage seemed built on silence.

Victor approached the folder.

“There’s one more thing.

She looked at him tiredly.

“Of course there is.

He pulled out a small envelope.

“This was given to me by your father.

“And you waited until our wedding night too?”

“He told me to only open it when you were legally protected by the trust.

“Now I am.

"Yes.

Sofia took the envelope.

The lyrics were from his father.

I would recognize that scripture anywhere.

“Sophia.”

Just his name on the front.

He opened it.

There was a letter inside.

“Daughter, if you’re reading this, it means Victor came to you.”

Sofia was left without breath.

He looked at Victor.

He hadn’t read the letter either.

He went on.

“I don’t know if you can trust him. I didn’t trust him when I met him either.”

Victor almost smiled, but it was not time to do it.

Sofia continued.

“But if he has respected my instruction, it means that he told you the truth before asking you to sign anything.”

Sofia raised her head.

You never asked me to sign.

Victor denied.

"No.

She read again.

“Victor doesn’t know the whole truth about Aster Capital.”

Victor's face changed.

What?

Sofia continued.

“Because I didn’t tell her either.”

Below was an underlined phrase:

“Adrián Valdés does not control Aster.”

Victor approached.

Sophie read faster.

“He works for someone in our own family.”

Silence.

“Who?” Victor asked.

The letter continued:

“Sofia, you have a sister.”

She dropped the leaf.

"No.

Victor picked it up.

“Sofía...

I don’t have any sisters.

“Lee.

His hands were shaking.

“Her name is Elena.”

Sofia closed her eyes.

I don’t know any Elena.

“He was born six years before you.”

“This is impossible.

“Your mother thought she died soon after birth.”

Sofia started crying.

Victor continued reading when she could no longer.

“He didn’t die.”

Silence.

“They gave it to another family.”

Sofia took a hand to her mouth.

Victor continued:

“I discovered their existence too late. When I tried to find it, someone started moving money through screen companies.”

Sofia understood before she finished.

“Aster.

Victor nodded.

Last paragraph:

“If something happens to me, don’t look for Adrian first. Look for Elena.”

Sofia stood completely still.

Then Victor's phone rang.

Message unknown.

A photograph.

A woman in her thirties.

Dark hair.

Standing in front of the entrance of the same building where they were.

The image had a date from five minutes ago.

Text:

“Your wife just found out she has a sister.”

Second message:

“Now ask her why Elena married tonight too.”

Victor felt a chill.

“Also?”

Sofia looked at the screen.

A third image has arrived.

Another wedding.

Another woman in white.

And beside her, a man whose face was partially hidden.

But on the wrist was a tattoo that Victor immediately recognized.

“It can’t be.

Who is it?

Victor enlarged the image.

His expression changed.

"Bruno.

Sofia remembered the name.

The missing guard.

The man who recognized him.

“Has my sister married your security man?”

Victor did not answer.

Because I just understood something much worse.

Maybe Bruno had never worked for him.

Maybe he had entered his circle to get closer to Elena.

Maybe both weddings had happened the same night for a reason.

And maybe the real goal had never been just Sofia's money.

The phone vibrated again.

“Two sisters.”

“Two marriages.”

“One trust.”

Last message:

“Now decide which of the two wives has the right to sign.”

Sofia slowly looked up.

Victor looked at the fake body lying on the carpet.

For months he had used a costume to hide who he was before his enemies.

But that night he realized that someone had built a much more dangerous costume.

Not about a body.

But about an entire family.
