Have you ever looked closely at your fingers and noticed tiny hairs that you never paid attention to before? These fine hairs, known as vellus hairs, are a completely normal part of the human body. They can be so light and thin that some people barely notice them, while others have surprisingly visible hairs around their fingers and knuckles.
Although they seem almost useless, these tiny hairs are connected to follicles surrounded by nerve endings, which can help your skin sense subtle movements around it. They also provide a small amount of protection and may help trap a thin layer of air near the skin. Even the hairs themselves can slightly influence friction when your fingers touch or grip different surfaces.
