Fresh eggs withdrawn from market due to salmonella risk: The Ministry of Health reported that batches of Serroni poultry were affected.

Affected packaging and consumer complaints

The recalled eggs were sold both in packs of 180 eggs and in classic packages of six. The company said it already has removed unsold products, but urges consumers who have purchased eggs belonging to batches reminded not to consume them.

In particular, the opinion concerns category A eggs (M, L, XL) with code 3IT073SA007. Customers can return the product to the store where it was purchased.

What is Salmonella Enteritidis and what are its symptoms?

Like explains the Italian National Institute of Health, Salmonella enteritidis is one of the most common strains of salmonella in humans and animals raised for food production. It’s a salmonella said “minor” which mainly causes gastrointestinal discomfort.

Symptoms of infection may appear between 6 and 72 hours after consuming contaminated food, most often enters 12 and 36 hours, and include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever and abdominal pain. In most cases, the disease has a slight evolution and disappears in 4 to 7 days without requiring hospitalization, although in some cases infection can get worse, especially among the most fragile people.
