“You were taking my entire life apart,” Robin corrected her gently.
She aggressively pointed a sharp finger directly at my face. “She tested me as if I were applying for a servant’s humble job.”
“No,” I replied firmly. “I simply watched how you behaved when you believed that kindness offered no reward and cruelty carried no cost.”
The police officer stepped forward and asked Tabitha to turn around slowly.
She loudly resisted, threatened to launch massive lawsuits, and frantically demanded that Robin step in to defend her. He did not move a single inch. When the cold metal handcuffs closed around her wrists, she turned and stared at him with wide, frantic eyes.
“You will come back to me,” she insisted fiercely. “You always forgive people no matter what they do.”
His voice broke with emotion, but his stance remained absolutely firm. “Forgiveness does not require giving you continued access to my life.”
The officers firmly escorted her out the heavy front doors.
